The Graduate School holds hooding ceremonies during the month of May to celebrate Ph.D. graduates.

To help new students make the transition to graduate student life at Duke, The Graduate School hosts an orientation week each August to provide a series of activities designed to introduce students to The Graduate School, Duke University, and each other.

The Graduate School organizes a week of activities each spring to give graduate students opportunities to socialize, unwind, network, and work on professional and personal development. Appreciation Week is typically held during the first week of April.

In this series of faculty- and student-facilitated conversations, Duke alumni who are in executive-level positions discuss how their education at Duke prepared them for their careers and influences their work.
