The Graduate School's English for International Students program is offering a new advanced writing course designed specifically for international Ph.D. students who are in the process of writing dissertations, publications, or major research projects.

The new course--GS 730: Special Topic: Advanced Academic Writing for Ph.D. Students--will be offered for the first time in spring 2018. The course’s learning objectives and activities have been developed with significant input from faculty and students in various Graduate School programs. Students work on a current writing project throughout the semester and benefit from extensive peer and instructor feedback.

Students can take this new course as a substitute for the GS 730: Academic Writing II requirement. It can also be taken as an elective. To enroll in the course, students need to be the primary author of a major writing project.

For more information, contact the instructor, Beth Long (EL68@duke.edu). Space is limited.
