
2025 Ph.D. Hooding Ceremonies: Photos and Videos
On May 10, 2025, The Graduate School held two Ph.D. Hooding Ceremonies at Duke Chapel to celebrate its 2024–2025 doctoral graduates. Duke's largest Ph.D. class ever, 418 students completed their programs this academic year, a total more than the first two decades of The Graduate School combined.
In total, 314 Ph.D. graduates participated in this years ceremonies, with over 1,000 guests, staff, and faculty in attendance and around 2,500 viewers watching online via the ceremony live streams.
During the morning hooding ceremony for Ph.D. graduates in the humanities, social sciences, and select Trinity programs, The Graduate School honored David E. Little (Ph.D. '01 Art History), as the 2025 recipient of the school's Distinguished Alumni Award.
