Continuing Ph.D. or master's students in biological and biomedical sciences, physical sciences, engineering, or social sciences who are receiving Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research..

Duke Graduate School students receiving Sigma Xi Grants in Aid of Research (GIAR) can receive a match of the awarded amount from The Graduate School. 

To get the match, forward the official award letter from Sigma Xi to grad-finaid@duke.edu. Awards are given within the same academic year based on the date of the Sigma Xi award. Matching funds cannot be awarded retroactive for previous academic years.

The Sigma Xi GIAR program awards grants of up to $1,000 to students from all areas of the sciences and engineering. Designated funds from the National Academy of Sciences allow for grants of up to $5,000 for astronomy research and $2,500 for vision related research.
