Leveraging a Ph.D. Student Internship in a Faculty Career: A Panel Discussion with Alumni

What is the value of an internship during your Ph.D. program if your career goal is a tenure-track faculty position? Three alumni will reflect on their experiences in this panel discussion. They will address questions such as how (and whether) they mentioned their internship experience in application materials and interviews, whether they gained skills from the internships that are relevant to their current roles, and what advice they would offer to current Ph.D. students.

Panelists:

  • Hannah Borenstein, Ph.D.’22 (Cultural Anthropology), Assistant Professor of Anthropology, Department of Global Sociocultural Studies, Florida International University
  • Achille Castaldo, Ph.D.’19 (Romance Studies), Assistant Professor of Italian, Department of French and Italian, Emory University
  •  Amanda Hughett, Ph.D.’17 (History), Assistant Professor of Legal Studies, University of Illinois Springfield
