What if you have a seat at the table but can’t seem to make your voice heard? Ensuring that all voices are heard is key to benefitting from team or workplace diversity. This webinar led by Dr. Sherry A. Marts, CEO of S*Marts Consulting LLC, will introduce approaches and methods for ensuring that meetings are both diverse and inclusive. If you run meetings, or attend meetings (who doesn't?), this webinar is for you.

We will:

  • Explore the different kinds of power dynamics in groups
  • Learn the difference between facilitation as gatekeeping to facilitation as  “groundskeeping”
  • Explore the importance of making implicit behavioral norms explicit and open to change
  • Explore how to make meetings collaborative and inclusive, even in the context of hierarchical organizational cultures

Duke graduate students can access this event sponsored by the Association for Women in Science through Duke's institutional membership, sponsored by the Office of Faculty Advancement. Find information about how to claim your Duke membership to AWIS here.
