Guidance for Programs on In-Person Recruiting Events

Page updated January 28, 2022

Currently, Duke is not prohibiting in-person recruiting events, though a few schools and/or departments have made the decision to move to 100% remote recruiting events. Graduate School programs considering in-person recruiting events in spring 2022 should follow these standard COVID event policies:

  • Visiting prospective students are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (not including booster shots) before arriving to campus. All other visitors are strongly encouraged to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
  • Event attendees must sign an attestation (PDF) in advance, stating that they have been fully vaccinated (not including booster shots).
    • Programs may require attendees to show proof of vaccination at the event, but should not collect or make copies of vaccination cards/records.
  • Avoid large group gatherings.
  • Practice social distancing and spread out participants as much as physically possible.
  • Masks are required on the Duke campus in all indoor locations, regardless of vaccination status. Masks are currently not required in outdoor congregate settings, but individuals are encouraged to carry a mask in case social distancing cannot be effectively maintained in outdoor settings.
  • Do not offer dining in enclosed indoor spaces. If you want to offer food, opt for grab-and-go box lunches, pre-packaged snacks, etc., preferably served outdoors.
