The Duke A2i program is focused on helping Humanities and Social Science PhD students find, apply for, and secure employment outside academia. Immersion Day is an experiential learning opportunity where you can apply the lessons from the workshops and coffee chats in the Job Search Strategies series. Non-academic organizations will introduce you to their mission, teach you skills that are vital for their employees' success, and provide advice on how to land a role at their company. Immersion Day is a great opportunity to meet other graduate students considering jobs outside of academia and connect with employers and alums who can provide valuable connections to non-academic roles.
In order to participate in Immersion Day on April 15, we ask that you
- Attend 3+ events (a combination of virtual workshops on Fridays from 12-1PM and/or Coffee Chats the following Wednesdays at 9-10AM at Panera) - coffee/tea will be provided by A2i!
- Submit a résumé and a cover letter to A2i Program Manager Abraham Nguyen at firstname.lastname@example.org by April 8, 2022. With your approval, these documents will be shared with alums and employers who will be present at Immersion Day.
If you are not able to attend at least 3 events but would still like to participate in Immersion Day, please email Abraham Ngyuen at email@example.com.
A Zoom link will be shared with confirmed registrants. This event is part of the A2i Spring 2022 Job Search Strategies series sponsored by Duke Career Center and the A2i Initiative and is part of the Careers Beyond Academia Series co-sponsored with The Graduate School and the Office of Postdoctoral Services.
