The Versatile PhD, a web-based service that helps universities provide graduate students with non-academic professional development, is holding a free Careers in Higher Ed Development online panel discussion from October 20 through October 24. The panel will feature humanities and social sciences Ph.D.s or A.B.D.s working in university development (sometimes called advancement).
Higher-ed fundraising requires a skill set that many humanists and social scientists have: write proposals, plan campaigns, research funding, engage donors and move them to action. The panelists work in areas such as development writing, prospect research, major gifts, corporate and foundation relations, and alumni communications. Panelists introduce themselves on October 20 and answer questions from students for the rest of the week.
Visit the Humanities and Social Sciences forum to join the conversation. Registration at Versatile PhD is free. Use your Duke NetID to access premium content such as the Career Finder. This resource is co-sponsored with the Duke Career Center.
This event is part of The Graduate School's Professional Development Series.
