Over a six-decade career as an oceanographer and explorer, Sylvia A. Earle (M.S.'56, Ph.D.'66) has ascended to the top of her field and dived to previously unfathomed depths, earning monikers such as "Her Deepness" and "the face of marine biology." Before receiving the 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award from The Graduate School at the Ph.D. hooding ceremony on May 9, Earle sat down with Dean Paula D. McClain to discuss her career and share some advice for students and new graduates.
