ELI Program Sessions, Spring 2017

In addition to attending all portions of each session, participants commit up to 5 hours per week of work outside the sessions for completion of assessments and the team project. Note that in addition to the five formal session meetings, participants have three intersession assignments to complete during the break between February 24 and March 24.

Participants must be on-site for all sessions; remote participation is not possible for the 2017 program.

Session 1: An Introduction to the Emerging Leaders Institute
Friday, February 3, 12:30–4:30 p.m.

This session will provide an overview of the program, introduce the critical thinking model at the heart of the program, and begin the program-long team projects.

Session 2: Leveraging Strengths and Articulating Your Value
Friday, February 10, 12:30–4:30 p.m.

In this session, we’ll use a tool to help you describe your strengths to others and help you articulate your value to your team and your organization.

Session 3: Emotional Intelligence and Strategic Communication
Friday, February 17, 12:30–4:30 p.m.

This session will help you better understand emotional intelligence and how you can continue to develop this essential tool for leadership and communication.

Session 4: Leading Beyond Yourself
Friday, February 24, 12:30–4:30 p.m.

How can you apply your insights about yourself as an individual and as a team member to benefit your organization? This session will complete the leadership triangle model.

Intersession assignments
Monday, February 27 through Friday, March 24

All participants are required to complete three assignments during this period:

  1. View a presentation overview of the Human Patterns assessment and complete activities in preparation for individual coaching session (time commitment: ~90 minutes)
  2. Schedule and complete a 45-minute individual coaching session with your assigned Human Patterns coach at a mutually convenient time
  3. Schedule a 30-minute in-person team meeting with Dr. Bostrom, including all team members, by March 10. An additional team meeting may be required before the final session.

Session 5: Team Presentations and Graduation
Friday, march 24, 12:30–4:30 p.m.

The program wraps up with final team presentations of the program-long projects and a “graduation” ceremony.
