Due to industry demand and a shift in recruiting trends, many consulting firms will begin internship recruiting on college campuses during the 2016 fall semester. This is a change from past years when internship recruitment was limited to later, in the spring semester. Because of this change, students interested in consulting will begin interviewing for internships three to five months earlier than in previous years.

Master's students are affected in a notable way because applications will be due soon after you arrive on campus. Internships commonly lead to offers for full-time work after graduation, so for those interested in consulting careers, these deadlines are particularly relevant.

It is common for Ph.D.s to participate in separate hiring processes as "advanced degree candidates," and these deadlines have not significantly changed.

Beyond supporting all aspects of graduate student career exploration and job search needs with ongoing outreach and year-round personalized services, the Graduate Services Team of the Duke Career Center is committed to helping you prepare for fall internship recruitment by adding extra workshops and resources to help you to meet early deadlines.

Some important dates to remember:
  • September 6: Employer Information Sessions begin
  • September 14: Fall Career Fair
  • September 19: On-Campus Interviews begin
