Timeline

Beginning in 2014, most Ph.D. students at Duke are guaranteed summer research fellowships for the summers after their first and second academic years of study. In addition to summer tuition and fees, the fellowship awards a summer stipend of $6,500.

Thanks to generous funding from The Duke Endowment and the Graduate School Annual Fund, the Office of the Provost and The Graduate School are offering 10 Summer Research Fellowships for Ph.D.

The Duke Graduate School is offering a summer research fellowship for a graduate student in public policy, social sciences, or the humanities who is doing research on women or girls of color. 

The Summer Research Fellowship will pay a stipend of $6,500 for the period from June 1 to August 31, plus summer tuition and health fee.

The center will award up to three competitive fellowships to applicants to any PhD program at Duke who are interested in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Through the generosity of the late Jenny L. Semans Koortbojian, an alumna of the Graduate Liberal Studies program, the Jenny L. Semans Koortbojian Scholarship Fund provides tuition scholarships to graduate students who are enrolled in the Graduate Liberal Studies program at Duke University.

The Wrenn Fellowship in Alzheimer’s Disease Research awards a single three-year graduate fellowship of $40,000/year ($120,000 total) to a Duke Ph.D. student conducting innovative Alzheimer’s disease research.

This award is offered through The Graduate School. Incoming students are nominated by their department; no direct application is necessary. The University Scholars Program is designed to stimulate an interdisciplinary, intergenerational, and diverse community of scholars.

Through the generosity of the W.D. Billings Fellowship Endowment Fund, this fellowship supports Ph.D. students doing doctoral research in plant ecology. It provides academic-year tuition, fees, and a stipend at the school rate. The recipients of this fellowship are selected by the Ph.D.
