Created through an endowment gift from the family of Anne T. and Robert M. Bass, the Bass Instructional Fellowship Program supports high-quality teaching experiences for Ph.D. students where normal means of funding are unavailable.

In recognition of the significant disruption that the coronavirus pandemic has caused in the academic and research progress of many Ph.D. students, Duke is providing a mechanism for those students to apply for the following extensions to their standard funding package.

This award is offered through The Graduate School. Incoming students are nominated by their department; no direct application is necessary. The Chancellor’s Scholarship is awarded to incoming graduate students studying biomedical sciences in the School of Medicine.

Through the generosity of the Charles G. and Susan Y. Armstrong Fellows Endowment Fund, this fellowship supports Ph.D. students in the English Ph.D. program and provides summer or academic-year tuition, fees, and a stipend at the school rate.

Through the generosity of the Charles H. Lochmuller Fellowship Fund, this fellowship supports Ph.D. students at the candidacy stage in the Chemistry Ph.D. program and provides summer or academic-year tuition, fees, and a stipend at the school rate.

Through the generosity of the Charles K. Bradsher Memorial Endowment Fund, this fellowship supports Ph.D. students in the Chemistry Ph.D. program and provides summer or academic-year tuition, fees, and a stipend at the school rate. The recipients of this fellowship are selected by the Ph.D.

The Graduate School provides up to $525 for domestic and $700 for international travel for advanced students who have passed all parts of the preliminary examination and are presenting a paper or poster at a regional, national, or international conference. Due to current travel restrictions, The Graduate School will not award conference travel awards related to actual travel at this time until further notice, but will award funds to cover web-based conference registration expenses. The same guidelines regarding the expense and application process should be followed.
