Join Duke Career Center for a site visit to North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), a global leader in providing innovative transportation solutions. Their mission: Connecting people, products and places safely and efficiently with customer focus, accountability and environmental sensitivity to enhance the economy and vitality of North Carolina.
What to Expect:
- 10:00 a.m. Rail Yard Tour Begins
- Overview of rail yard operations
- Walk-through of how trains are serviced
- Step inside a locomotive and tour the interior
- Time for Q&A and photos
- 11:30 a.m. Board Train to Raleigh Union Station
- Rail safety discussion and the importance of safety awareness
- 12:00 p.m. Arrival at Raleigh Union Station
- Guided tour led by an engineer
- Overview of station operations and Q&A
- 12:40 p.m. Travel back to Rail Yard (Ending visit)
Space is limited to the first 15 registered students, and students from all disciplines are encouraged to attend.
Additional Location Information
Round-trip transportation will be provided via Uber or Lyft passes. It’s about a 40-minute drive from campus. If you choose to drive yourself, parking is available. After registering, please contact alicia.rhodes@duke.edu by Thursday, October 16, to confirm your transportation arrangements.
