Duke University Center of Exemplary Mentoring Research Summit

The Duke UCEM Annual Research Summit features short research presentations by Sloan Scholars, who are Ph.D. students in the physical sciences and engineering. The event also features a keynote address from a prominent researcher in the sciences or engineering. All members of the Duke community are welcome to attend this event, which is part of a year-long celebration of 100 years of research in The Graduate School.
The 2026 Research Summit will feature presentations by nine Sloan Scholars and a keynote address by General Charles Q. Brown, Jr., 21st chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, former Air Force general and commander of Pacific Air Forces, and current Executive in Residence with the Pratt School of Engineering and Sanford School of Public Policy. General Brown recently shared his reflections on mentoring in a conversation with Maria LaMonaca Wisdom, published in the Mentoring Commons.
