Doctoral Job Search Group
The five-week Doctoral Job Search Group is a group dedicated to putting your job search into high gear. Meetings will be facilitated by career advisors, but the cohort is made up exclusively of Duke PhD students.
Job/Internship Search Group Overview: This interdisciplinary group is designed for doctoral candidates who are actively searching for a job or internship this academic year. The goal is to create a supportive community in which you can develop skills and strategies, find and utilize resources, and build connections.
Group Format: There will be instructional/educational components to this group, but a significant amount of time will be dedicated to discussion. As such, you will be asked to complete tasks/assignments in between sessions and be prepared to discuss your observations with the group. Any tasks/assignments will not exceed 60 minutes/week. The goal of these tasks is to provide practical application of skills learned throughout the sessions.
Expectations: This is a five-week group which will meet every Thursday from 3pm-4pm beginning February 2nd and ending on March 2nd. We ask that you commit to participating in all five weeks. There will be homework between sessions, but not longer than 60 minutes/week. 5 Thursdays / 3pm-4pm/ Bryan Center Conference Room (bottom floor) This group will be hybrid, but in-person attendance is encouraged for facilitation.
