Demystifying the Publication Process: Advice from Journal Editors

For many academics, especially those with high research expectations, there are strong expectations to publish in peer-reviewed journals. However, academics often are not taught formally how to navigate the unwritten rules, unspoken expectations, and hidden processes affiliated with publishing in peer-reviewed journals. In this discussion panel, journal editors will demystify the publishing process and share valuable insight and advice. In addition, we will welcome questions from the audience in an interactive Q&A session.

• Stephen John Quaye, Professor and Associate Dean for Excellence in Graduate and Postdoctoral Training in the Graduate School at The Ohio State University; Editor of The Journal of Higher Education
• Srivi Ramasubramanian, PhD is Newhouse Professor & Endowed Chair at Syracuse University, where she also serves as Founding Director of CODE^SHIFT (Collaboratory for Data Equity, Social Healing, Inclusive Futures, and Transformation)
• Ruth C. Carlos, MD, MS, FACR is a Professor of Radiology, and serves as the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and Community Engagement, Columbia University
