Find out more about The Graduate School's Certificate in College Teaching (CCT). This is Duke’s largest graduate certificate program and is open to all graduate (primarily PhD) students across the university. The CCT can help equip you for teaching and TAing responsibilities you may have now, and it can also make you more competitive for teaching positions after graduation. Students who complete the CCT will have it listed on their transcripts as an officially endorsed Duke University Graduate School certificate.

Program requirements can be completed in as little as a year, but the timeline is very flexible and allows you to engage and progress across your graduate career at your own pace. CCT work may be done alongside other classes, research, or work on a dissertation and should not interfere with the timely completion of any of these. You can join the program at any time; there are regular orientations year-round. Many students find it advantageous to join early, attend an orientation, then engage with CCT classes & programming later, after their research is established.
