A2i Learning the Language of Industry: A Workshop for Humanities and Social Sciences Ph.D. Students
Morgan Dalman, Ph.D. Candidate, NC State
Are you sometimes confused about what people say in industry? Do you often have questions about job postings or find it hard to translate your skills and experience into language that people understand? Academia and industry speak different languages. Join this session with Morgan Dalman to learn more about these differences.
Morgan Dalman has been the Accelerate to Industry (A2i) Program Assistant in the Graduate School at North Carolina State University since 2019. In the past year, Morgan has had major oversight of NC State’s A2i Program where her experiences have given her an understanding of and appreciation for the nuances of industry and academic language in job searches. She received her B.S in mechanical engineering from Hope College and her M.S. in mechanical engineering from NC State University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at NC State.
A2i is a program at Duke focused on helping humanities and social science Ph.D. students find, apply for, and secure employment outside of academia. While the content, industry partners, and guest presenters will be tailored for humanities and social science doctoral candidates, other graduate and professional students from Duke are welcome to attend. See the complete lineup of spring 2023 A2i events on the Duke Career Center website.
This event is sponsored by Duke Career Center. Questions? Contact Jiayue Liu, A2i intern.
