MAT Program Receives 3-Year Renewal Commitment

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program received a three-year renewal commitment of funding for the Durham Teaching Fellowships. These fellowships are awarded to 8 MAT students per year who commit to teach in Durham Public Schools (DPS) secondary schools for 2 years upon graduation. The initial establishment of Durham Teaching Fellowships occurred in 2006, with a joint announcement by Duke and DPS, and has since provided funding for 24 new high school teachers for DPS. President Brodhead and the MAT Program jointly fund this initiative. The Durham Teaching Fellowship covers full tuition and registration fees for the entire 12-month full-time Master of Arts in Teaching Program at Duke. 510 Alumni Notes December 2, 2008 post December 2008, Highlights, Issues http://gradschool.duke.edu/gsa/newsletter/?post_type=post&p=510
