Jo Rae Wright Fellowships Established

Duke University has established the Jo Rae Wright Fellowship for Outstanding Women in Science to honor Jo Rae Wright, who stepped down in October as dean of the Graduate School.

Dr. Wright has shaped a school where the lives of students truly matter, and has promoted initiatives that encourage graduate students to become more visible and active in developing their careers at Duke. Highlights of Dean Wright’s leadership include the establishment of tuition remission, launching the online application, creation of a childcare and adoption accommodation policy, expansion of career and professional development resources, increasing summer research fellowships, enhancing diversity efforts, implementing major fundraising initiatives, and establishing the Graduate School’s first Board of Visitors.
