2010 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring

To recognize the considerable efforts and accomplishments of faculty and students who consistently serve as effective mentors, the Duke University Graduate School established the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Mentoring. Graduate School Hosts Inaugural Meeting of Board of Visitors

The inaugural meeting of the Graduate School Board of Visitors convened on March 5, 2010. Establishing a Board of Visitors has been one of Dean Jo Rae Wright’s priorities during her tenure and signals a milestone for the Graduate School. Her recent reappointment as dean for another five-year term will ensure that her commitment and attentiveness to the board will bolster its work. “The work of the Board of Visitors,” says Dean Wright “will be vital for the Graduate School’s continued success in meeting the needs of its students, and members of the board will serve as Graduate School ambassadors among their peers and other constituents.” more

2010 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching

The Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching was created to recognize outstanding teaching by graduate students, who must be nominated by their departments in order to be considered. This year’s award recognizes two graduate students who exemplify best teaching practices and demonstrate the effectiveness of differing teaching styles. more
