Graduation Ceremonies

NOTE: All students who submitted an Intent to Graduate form for May 2009 or who graduated in September or December 2008 should fill out the appropriate Commencement Information Form from the list below before March 27, 2009:

Saturday, May 9, 2009 @ 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony for the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Engineering

Ceremony: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Baldwin Auditorium
Satellite Viewing: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Brodie Gymnasium, upper level
Reception: 7:30-9:00 p.m., Brodie Gymnasium, lower level

Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony for the Biological and Physical Sciences

Reception: 6:00-7:30 p.m., Brodie Gymnasium, lower level
Ceremony: 8:00-9:00 p.m., Baldwin Auditorium
Satellite Viewing: 8:00-9:00 p.m., Brodie Gymnasium, upper level

By filling out a 2009 Ph.D. Commencement Information Form between 02/23/2009 and 03/27/2009, each student being hooded will be able to reserve up to 4 tickets for seating of family and friends in Baldwin Auditorium. When you fill out the reservation you will have the opportunity to request additional tickets if they become available. Tickets will be mailed to September and December degree awardees between April 20 and 24.
May awardees will pick up tickets at 2111 Campus Drive during any one of the following times:
April 14 or 16: 1:00-4:00 p.m.
April 15 or 17: 9:00 a.m.-Noon

Sunday, May 10, 2009 @ Noon-2:00 p.m.
Diploma Distribution

(NOTE: You must show your Student ID when picking up your diploma.)

  • A.M., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees: Please check with your department to see if diplomas for Master's and Ph.D. recipients will be distributed at a departmental ceremony. If your department is not distributing graduate degree diplomas, the pick-up location will be 127 Allen Building.
  • Liberal Studies degrees, 2114 Campus Drive
  • M.A.T. degrees, Room 01, West Duke Building, East Campus
  • M.P.P. degrees, Fleishman Commons, Ground Floor, Sanford Institute
  • Program in International Development Policy degrees, Fleishman Commons, Ground Floor, Sanford Institute
