Admissions

Degree Confirmation

Before you register for graduate work at Duke University, official transcripts showing all undergraduate work (and graduate work, if applicable) and a record of your graduation should be submitted to the Graduate School.  If you are completing or have just completed a degree, you must request the school to send to us immediately after your graduation a final transcript showing all work completed between the date covered in your initial application and the time of your graduation and conferral of the degree.  This final transcript must show the date of the awarding of the degree.  If your transcript does not indicate the degree conferral, you must submit an official document, such as a diploma, showing your receipt of the degree and the date the degree was awarded.

We are aware that some international schools issue only one official transcript and diploma or certificate of degree completion.  If this is the case for the school(s) you attended, you should not send these documents to us since no materials submitted in support of an application will be returned to you.  You should send instead exact copies that have been stamped as "Certified True Copies" by the appropriate institutional official of each institution that you attended.  Uncertified copies are not acceptable.  If you enroll at Duke, you will be required to present your original documents for verification purposes but these will be returned directly to you.
